1. Tell us a little bit about your background.
I was born and raised in Colorado and left at a young age to serve in the US Military. Following a tour overseas, I headed off to college and then moved back overseas where I cut my teeth in the international trade show industry with a few years in the aerospace industry. Currently, I have a business administration degree and an MBA in International Business. I began my trade show career in Europe and was fortunate to experience some fascinating regions of the world over 18 years of living and working in countries like Germany, United Kingdom and Turkey. I have been directly responsible for organizing more than 250 different international events and these experiences have transformed my career. I now consider myself a unique exhibition specialist in a multitude of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, Information Technology, food, textiles and construction. I’m at a point in my career where I believe it’s important to share my experiences and transfer my knowledge to the next generation of trade show professionals. I hope to use a portion of this blog to provide insight and perspective to our readers.
2. What is your title and role at Messe Frankfurt North America?
I currently hold the title of President of Messe Frankfurt North America, which makes me responsible for the management of all of our domestic show teams, operations, outbound sales teams, external relationships, and business development in the US, Canada and Mexico. My last 3 1/2 years with Messe Frankfurt has offered me the chance to learn more about the dynamics of the US trade show industry, the chance to see certain opportunities for our company and the chance to recruit and develop some of the best talent in the US trade show industry.
3. What would you consider the top goals of Messe Frankfurt North America?
We at Messe Frankfurt North America strive to offer a top quality product, the best value and the highest ROI to our customers in the industries we serve. We work to produce shows where strong business connections are created and trends are set; where new directions are established and where we stand committed to providing the best experience for each and every exhibitor and attendee we serve.
4. What value does Messe Frankfurt North America’s trade shows provide to exhibitors and attendees?
We are committed and dedicated to providing new investment opportunities to our U.S. and International clients that are ready to showcase their innovations on a global scale and to offer the same level of service to our customers that exhibit and attend our portfolio of events in the United States, Canada and Mexico. We have the largest subsidiary network of any other German Messe, which includes our North American headquarters based in Atlanta. This allows us to offer a more comprehensive platform of events to the industries we serve. These industries include technology and production, entertainment, media and creation, consumer goods and leisure, textiles and textile technologies and mobility and infrastructure.
