MEET THE TEAM: GREG JIRA

Greg Jira is one of the newest additions to the Messe Frankfurt team.  He relocated from Long Island to Atlanta to join Messe Frankfurt as the director of the Clean Show.

How long have you been in the industry?

I have been in the industry for twenty+ years.  In this time, I have had the opportunity to work on both the show management side (for-profit, associations) and contractor side (general service contractor, logistics, installation & dismantle house) of the industry.

Where did you grow up?

My youth was spent growing up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio.

Tell us about your family.

My wife, Lori, is a former meeting planner- now working in H.R.  Together we have two brats…. I mean two amazingly inspiring kids – Emma (12) and Jake (11).

Tell us one thing that would surprise us about you.

I used to have a ton of hair (really) and spent my teenage years working in the music industry.

What is your favorite place you have ever traveled and what is your dream vacation destination?

Favorite place I have ever travelled?   I have been blessed to be able to visit so many exciting and beautiful places in this line of work. It is hard to say.

My favorite place is anywhere my friends and family gather.

My favorite vacation destination is to a place not too far from where Tori (one of our Operations Managers) called home, Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio .It’s like Six Flags on steroids.

However, my kids will tell you their favorite place is the Poconos Mountains just outside NYC, because there are three awesome water parks to explore.

Messe Frankfurt and its Dedication to IAEE

With more than 10,000 industry professionals who support and conduct exhibitions globally, The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) forms a strong synergistic group of individuals.  The endless networking and educational opportunities IAEE provides its members have lead many at Messe Frankfurt North America to get involved.

Over the years, Messe Frankfurt has been very active not only within the IAEE Southeastern Chapter but also on the national level. This year has been very exciting for us and IAEE SE, with our very own Chris Pendley joining the Board of Directors for The Southeastern Chapter of IAEE, co-directing the Young Professionals Committee of IAEESE. The YPs of IAEE makeup a large group of like-minded professionals that are immersed in the events and trade show industry.
