It is no easy feat to organize the two largest tradeshows for the U.S. Technical Textile and Nonwovens Industry and Ali Rosenberger is the one to tell you. Ali is the Marketing & Conference Manager at Messe Frankfurt Inc. for the Technical Textile, Technology, and Sewn Products & Equipment team. She and the all-woman team are getting ready to welcome more than 560 exhibitors to Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center for the 15th edition of Techtextil North America and the fourth edition of Texprocess Americas. Taking place May 22nd through the 24th, the 2018 event will be one to remember. We sat down with Ali for more details about the 2018 event’s expanded agenda and special features.
Briefly introduce Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas:
Techtextil North America assembles all vertical aspects of the technical textile industry: from research and development, through raw materials and production processes and finally ending in conversion, further treatment, and recycling. Texprocess Americas is the largest North American trade fair for machines, plant, processing, IT systems and services for the development, sourcing, and production of textiles, other flexible materials and sewn products. Combined, these two events make largest technical textiles, nonwovens, machinery, sewn products and equipment trade show in the Americas. At this year’s show, with the purchase of a single badge, visitors gain access to both show floors – which means over 560 exhibitors and an amazing lineup of special features!
Talk a little bit about what you are looking forward to the most during Techtextil North America or Texprocess Americas.
Our exhibitors are pulling out all of the stops this year. With countless new product releases and Special Feature collaborations, the show floor is going to be buzzing with activity!
What are some new developments in your industry that will be introduced at the 2018 show?
I will be leading the press on a tour of some of the most innovative developments being shown at Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas – from smart fabrics and fibers to software solutions that are changing the industry as we know it – you’ll have to keep a look-out for daily coverage from the show floor to learn more!
Tell us about the High-Tex from Germany area being presented?
High-Tex From Germany is hosted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry. The area, located on the Techtextil North America Show Floor, will feature 66 companies from the German textile, textile-machinery and garment-technology industries. Featured companies will present their newest products and technologies within High-Tex from Germany throughout the three days.
So, there are a lot of exciting things that will be going on between the two shows. Can you brief us on a few of the must-see events?
Tech Talks: Tech Talks are complimentary mini-sessions held on the show floor. This year, there will be Tech Talks areas on both show floors. Each will feature presentations from participants in the Graduate Student Poster Program, along with specialized content provided by The Nonwovens Institute (Techtextil North America Booth 3424) and FIT in Collaboration with Voice of Insiders (Texprocess Americas Booth 1300). Omron Autonomous Mobile Robot: The Omron robot will be moving throughout the show floor as a part of a multi-exhibitor Micro factory Collaboration Project. Visitors will be able to see how a modern Micro factory can improve quality, reduce costs, and improve time to market.
The Greatest Showman Costumes Brought to You by Gerber Technology: The Texprocess Americas show floor will feature replicas of the costumes from The Greatest Showman brought to you by Gerber Technology. Gerber combined forces with Global Garment Engineering and 20th Century Fox to replicate costumes worn by the actors (like Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron. to name a few!) in the film. The Special Feature area will demonstrate the process and efficiency enabled by Gerber’s integrated digital solutions.
What is a fun fact that you have learned while working on Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas?
It has been almost a year since I joined the Technical Textiles, Sewn Products, Equipment & Technology team and it’s been an amazing experience so far. Having worked with clients in the textiles industry before, I thought I knew what I was in for… but It really is amazing how heavily textiles influence all of our lives on a daily basis. It has been truly mind-blowing to learn the wide range of industries these two events touch. From fashion and apparel, to architecture, interior design & upholstery, military and protective products, automotive and aerospace, medical (the list keeps going), and how these industries are constantly changing and evolving as new technologies are discovered and developed.
