What it’s Like to Work at Messe Frankfurt North America?


Our HR Director, Vickie Ralls shares what it’s like to work at one of the top trade show companies in the world.

We’re Diverse
One of the most fascinating aspects of the business is the incredibly different industries in which the teams work. From Automechanika to Texworld USA and Boulevard-Pret-a-Sale, from Beautyworld Middle East, and Paperworld to Techtextil North America and Texprocess Americas. These just name a few and how diverse the shows are. It’s very exciting when a team is ready to take off for their show. There’s a kind of frenzy and excitement that’s a contagious energy which spreads around the office.

Our employees have a strong desire to contribute and are committed to providing excellent service to our customers. We value our diversity and different perspectives. The employees are encouraged to develop further and progress in their field with the support of management. We take pride in all of our employees and collectively share in the prosperity of the business.


We Know How To Have Fun
As hard as everyone works, we also have fun. One year for a team building event, we went bowling. We bowled three games. The second game, you had to do things likehop three times and bowl, or sit down and roll the ball, or even roll the ball backwards between your legs. Everyone was laughing and cheering, the winning team was taken out for a very nice lunch. Another year we had a step contest. Pedometers were donated by our medical provider and each team came up with a name for themselves. My team was “Kickin’ Asphalt.” Weekly scores were entered on a board for two months and it got competitive! Each member of the winning team received a $50 gift card.


During the Fall and Winter, we enjoy displaying our cooking skills. We had a Chili Cook-Off  in which ten volunteers entered. All employees voted and the top three winners received a plaque. At Thanksgiving, the company provides turkey and the employees bring sides. The dishes are from gourmet to down-home Southern delights.


We Give Back
We have also participated in community volunteer efforts. Every year we select a family from the Chick-fil-a Christmas drive to help out families in need by providing gifts for their children. A group of employees assisted in a Game Night at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

We Travel A Lot
The show teams travel to many different parts of the world. In addition to their show, they also attend competitive shows and association conferences. Most will work 10 to 15-hour days during their respective show(s). While it is a lot of work, there is time to enjoy the culture or city by attending receptions and dinners hosted or provided by the show or association. Typically employees will take a few days of time off to explore.


We Have the Best Perks
In addition to the rich health insurance plans and other employee benefits, we have some very nice perks. As an incentive, employees who refer candidates for open positions and are hired are eligible for a $500 gift card. We have a negotiated rate at an exclusive athletic club for under $50 a month, or employees may be reimbursed up to $60 a month for an individual membership at a fitness center of their choice. The Paid Time Off (PTO) policy will allow you to carry over 40 hours to the next year and any remaining time will be paid out to the employee.
